In our Christian tradition we have a sacred calendar—a way of marking time through the course of the year by telling the story of Jesus Christ. There’s a secular calendar to coordinate our lives within a secular age, and there’s a sacred calendar to form our lives through the gospel story. We let the rhythms and rest of the Liturgical Church Calendar guide our seasons at Life Abundant, beginning with Advent and weaving a thread throughout the rest of the year.
We’re currently in Advent, a season of waiting and preparation for the coming of our king. In the anticipation of Christmas, we affirm that our king has come and was revealed in a baby from Bethlehem, but our king will come again. Our new year begins here, and it starts not with doing but with waiting.
You can find the scriptures for our Sunday services in the calendar, as well as daily readings for further meditation.
